Water – the basic element in all processes

Water is an important raw material for the production of pharmaceutical liquids, where quality is a prime concern, and an essential ancillary medium for a variety of subordinate processes in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. 

To be able to produce the required quantity of water of the quality laid down in USP and Ph Eur, water plant has to meet very exacting demands including meeting many national and international regulations and standards. Water plant is subject to very stringent controls and inspections, the requirements of which are fulfilled by GEA Diessel.

Water in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology

Water is used in many applications, no matter if it is the manufacture of liquid pharmaceuticals like syrups or parenterals, the buffer preparation for chromatography or the media preparation for a fermentation. To clean a plant, watery CIP solutions are needed to ready the plant for the next batch. Furthermore, water is the basis for the production of pure pyrogen-free steam for the sterilization of a plant and its components after CIP as well as WFI.

Solutions made to measure

The integration of a highly purified media plant or a storage and distribution system into another plant is preferably seamless. We will supply your plant with whatever type of operation system your require: manual operation using buttons and switches; control systems with operator control units or process visualisations; or instrumentation and control systems capable of controlling several workstation.

Measurement of parameters like fluid velocity, temperature, conductivity and TOC-content can be implemented into the control system of your water system. Of course, records can be kept of all process-relevant data.
